Houfy is two things: a place guests search that takes no host commission, and an AI website builder. We read its pricing and builder pages in full — including where they disagree — and here's how it compares.
The short answer
Houfy is a commission-free vacation rental marketplace where guests search and book hosts directly, with plans from free to $11.99 per listing a month and an AI website builder that creates a direct booking site from a description or an imported listing. VacayDirect is a done-for-you website service, not a marketplace. The two aren't substitutes: a host can list on Houfy for its guest traffic and have their own custom site with us.
What is Houfy, and what does it cost?
Houfy is a vacation rental marketplace — guests search by destination and dates and book the host directly — built on what it calls a product model: "you pay for the tools you choose, and Houfy deducts nothing from your payout." Its pricing page is plain about the headline: "Houfy takes no commission on your bookings on any plan."
There are three plans. Free has no monthly fee, with a one-time $5.99 host verification before listings appear in Houfy search. Lite is $7.99 per listing per month ($95.88 a year billed annually), adding Airbnb pricing import and sync — which the page notes "Does NOT work with smart pricing enabled on Airbnb". Premium is $11.99 per listing per month ($143.86 a year), listing "Website builder tools", custom widgets, multiple external domains and white-label options (read 22 September 2026).
One fee is the guest's rather than yours: "Bookings made through certain PMS integrations add a 5% API connection fee, paid by the guest at checkout and not deducted from the host's payout."
Houfy also builds websites. Its AI builder "lets vacation rental hosts create a free, commission-free direct booking website in under 10 minutes by describing their property in plain language", imports an Airbnb or Vrbo listing, supports a custom domain, and lists OwnerRez, Hostaway, Hospitable, Hostfully and Lodgify among its partners.
Houfy's two pages disagree on what the website costs
The website-builder page's FAQ says: "Yes. Building your site is free. You pay nothing to create and publish your vacation rental website on Houfy." The pricing page lists "Website builder tools" as a Premium feature at $11.99 per listing per month. It may be that building is free and some tools are Premium — but the pages don't say so. Ask Houfy which applies before you budget.

A marketplace and a website are different jobs
Most of the searches about Houfy — "is Houfy legit", "Houfy vs Airbnb", "Houfy reviews" — are about the marketplace: will guests find me there, and is it safe to book. That's a question about Houfy's audience, which it doesn't publish figures for on the pages we read, so we can't answer it with numbers.
The website question is separate. Houfy's builder makes you a site quickly; we make you a custom one and keep writing for it. You can do both: list on Houfy for whatever traffic it brings, commission-free, and have your own site for guests who search your name or your area.
Where Houfy is the better choice
If you want the cheapest possible start: a free listing, a site you can generate in minutes, and no commission. For an owner testing whether direct bookings are worth the effort, that's a very low-risk experiment, and we'd say so.
Where VacayDirect is the better choice
If you want the site built and kept growing for you — a custom design, your booking system connected, and new local pages every week — rather than a site generated once from a description. Houfy's builder gets you a site; the pages that bring strangers to it are still yours to write.
Houfy vs Airbnb, briefly
The fee difference is real: Houfy takes no host commission, while Airbnb's single fee is 15.5% for most hosts (Airbnb's help centre, checked September 2026). The audience difference is the unknown: Airbnb reported more than 9 million active listings worldwide at the end of 2025, and Houfy doesn't publish comparable figures. Listing on Houfy doesn't require leaving Airbnb.
