AI website builders such as Wix, Squarespace and Base44 generate a general-purpose website from a short description, then leave you to edit it by hand or by asking their AI assistant. They suit owners who enjoy building and want to start for free. What an AI website builder actually does
You describe your business in a sentence or two, and the builder generates pages, copy, images and layout. Wix's page says "Create a website with AI by describing what you want. Customize anything by hand or with Aria, your built-in AI agent." Base44's says "Type what your site is for, who it's for, and what it should feel like. One sentence is enough to start," and that it generates "pages, copy, images, and layout — in under a minute." Squarespace's asks you to "Tell Squarespace about your business, project, or passion in your own words" (all read 22 September 2026).
After that, the site is yours to shape. Squarespace calls the result "a starting point" and says to "Make hands-on edits, ask your AI assistant to help, or move between both approaches as needed." Wix pairs its AI agent with drag-and-drop editing. Base44 takes changes in plain language: "Tell Base44 what you want changed. It changes."
Starting is cheap. Wix says "Start for free. No credit card required." Base44 lists a $0-a-month plan with "All core features". Squarespace lets you build with its AI during a free trial, but "You need a paid Squarespace website plan to publish the site." Wix's paid US plans run Light $17, Core $29, Business $39 and Business Elite $159 a month billed yearly; Squarespace's run Basic $19, Core $29, Plus $49 and Advanced $99 billed annually (read 22 September 2026).
What none of them is built around
A vacation rental. None of the three AI builder pages mentions nightly bookings, rentals or booking software. You get a capable general website, and the rental-specific work — the booking engine, the structured data that tells search engines this is a place to stay, and the local pages guests read while deciding — is still yours to prompt, write and check.

When an AI builder is the right call
You like tinkering, you want to start for free, and you're happy to write your own area guides and keep the site current. For a first site on a tight budget, a prompt and an afternoon get you something presentable, and that beats a better site you're still thinking about.
It's also a sensible way to find out what you want. Generate three versions, see which one feels like your place, and you'll know what to ask for — from a builder, a designer or us.
What's still on you
The generator gives you a general website. Turning it into a place that takes bookings and gets found is the ongoing work, and the builder waits for you to ask.

It can make a website for one. Wix, Squarespace and Base44 all generate a site from a short description. None of their AI builder pages mentions nightly bookings or booking software, so taking reservations means adding your booking engine yourself — on Wix, usually the third-party Wix Hotels app; on Squarespace, your booking software's embedded widget.
What is the best AI website builder for a vacation rental?
If you want to take bookings without separate booking software, Wix, because of the Wix Hotels app (read its reviews on Wix's App Market first). If you already have booking software and care most about looks, Squarespace with that software's widget embedded. If you want someone else to build and run it, that's what VacayDirect is for.
